This year’s showcase expands upon last year’s Silicon Valley showcase by bringing together government leaders, investors, and civic minded entrepreneurs from all over the world. The showcase will allow individuals to experience what Civic & Gov Tech is all about. Participants will learn about potential tech solutions to remedy the state’s problems, and network with entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and individuals who care about achieving political development through the application of technology.

“I am excited to bring together gov and civic tech companies in Sacramento,” said Tim Draper. “Venture Gov is the next big thing and we are building this ecosystem where it matters most, our state’s Capitol. Sacramento is uniquely poised to be the next center of civic innovation with direct access to stakeholders involved in technology and policy decisions that directly affect over 38 million Californians.”

Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson remarked, “Our city has taken recent strides to foster innovation and entrepreneurship and this year’s Civic & Gov Tech Showcase furthers us down that path. It provides another stage for the collaboration and support of new technologies to improve government.”

The Civic Tech & Gov Showcase presentation highlights include talks with SupportPay, the first online automated child support payment system; MeWe, which workers to streamline public health and safety inspection; And Civic Analytics, a tech company that analyzes crowd engagement to improve constituent response. Additionally, the County of Los Angeles Registrar of Voters, will present on how they are preparing for 21st century voting by partnering with IDEO on human centered design principles. City Innovate Foundation will present on SuperPublicSF’s collaborative lab model based on Paris’ SuperPublic. SpeakEasy Political will also highlight campaign innovations. And the Department of Better Technology will share the potential for effective public service.
