For more than 60 years, the San Mateo County Economic Development Association (SAMCEDA) has championed the business community in San Mateo County. Through its annual InnovatorsAwards of Excellence luncheon we honor innovation and entrepreneurship – a defining characteristic of Silicon Valley and pillar of the knowledge-based San Mateo County economy.
SAMCEDA believes, that innovation is fundamental to our region’s economy and ability to compete and maintain its economic leadership into the future. We are committed to working to both sustain and drive this innovation through our efforts on multiple fronts. Whether it is through economic studies, public policy discussions, or events that showcase what business provides to our communities we will continue our efforts to position San Mateo County as a great place to live and work, to grow and prosper.

A Keynote Speaker: Previous speakers have included Tim Draper, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Draper University, Garth Saloner, Dean of the Graduate School of Business at Stanford, Tom Baruch, Founder and Managing Partner of CMEA Capital, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and Weili Dai, Co-Founder of Marvel Technology Group and Barry Posner, past Dean of the Leavy School of Business at Santa Clara University and bestselling author of the "Leadership Challenge" with Jim Kouzes.
Innovator Awards - Six prestigious awards are handed out, honoring companies located within San Mateo County, who are recognized for their innovation and entrepreneurship.
David D. Bohannon Award - This award is dedicated to the memory of David D. Bohannon, Founder and Past President of SAMCEDA. The Award was established in 1995 and is presented to an individual for his or her demonstrated significant leadership and success in business, contributions towards building the local economy, and enrichment of the quality of life of San Mateo County through community service and philanthropy.
